About me

I'm a 25-year-old chess player and coach from Latvia who has played competitive chess since early childhood, representing the National Youth Team on several occasions.
I currently live in Riga, Latvia, but have students from all around the world!
Chess is a huge passion of mine! I fell in love with teaching 6 years ago and am so happy to share my passion for this amazing game for a living with students of all ages!

Playing experience

I have participated in European chess competitions as part of the Latvian National Youth team.

I've had success in Latvian Women's Youth championships, placing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places at several youth championships.
And, I've placed 3rd in Latvian Women's championship!

Teaching experience

I've been teaching chess online and offline for over 6 years now.
I have had several dozen students, who have achieved impressive growth, both in terms of chess understanding and rating.

Best skills

I've been complimented on my fluent English and great communication skills. I love talking to people so much that I would do that endlessly if I had a chance! However, what I like even more is listening. That's what I think helps me be much better at teaching!

I am also very flexible and able to teach at almost any time, which my students - especially the busy adult improvers! - find very convenient.

Teaching methodology

I have an individual approach for every student, we usually create a systematic plan over the first few lessons, depending on student's level and goals.

I offerr my students a coherent structure that allows them to work on chess on their own.

Of course, I keep in touch with my students while they're working on their own! My email is always open! Homework is also an option!

But overall, during the lessons, I like to mostly concentrate on improving positional play, because tactical play can be improved individually by doing a lot of puzzles on your own.

Analyzing classical grandmaster games, and most importantly, your own games is a key factor to getting better.

Of course, we also make sure to improve our understanding of opening theory and our endgame knowledge, which are also an important part of the lesson plan.
