About me
Playing experience
I've played since 1990, achieved a FM title and two IM norms before I shifted focus to coaching and writing books on chess history.
Teaching experience
Throughout the years I've been teaching at club level, I've helped strong players getting better and I've done some online teaching.
Other experiences
I am a professional teacher - I teach Dutch to foreigners. If you can teach Dutch, you can teach anything ;-).
Best skills
As a teacher, I always start from the intentions of the student. What does he want to achieve, what are his interests, strenghts and weaknesses. From my experience I'll offer guidance, analysis and support. A combination of methodologies are possible.
Teaching methodology
Possibilities are: game analysis, playing training games with subsequent analysis, or more thematic lessons on middlegame, endgame or openings. I draw up a training program based on an initial meeting in which we play some games.
A lessons always consists of questions and answers. What do you want to do and why?
Curious? Get in touch and I'll send you a game analysis that gives a good idea of how a lesson is done.
There are also possibilities to do just one or a few lessons, or to do group trainings (i.e. with players of the same club.).
