Hi, I am Marigje Degrande, but please call me Marepant!

I have 15+ years of playing experience. During those years I became a 6 times Belgian champion and got a shared first place in the European Union championship. Last year I made the choice to really put in the study hours for the first time and that paid off, resulting in the World Champion title U2000 Fide (shared first in the Open, alone first in the Women category), and that awarded me the WFM title. Now I’m on a quest to become the best chess player and coach that I can be! It would be my pleasure to help you achieve your goals too.

Do you have a specific topic in mind that you would like to work on? I would also go over your games and see which areas could be improved on. I am personally not the biggest opening fan, I prefer to focus on tactics, positional play in the middle game (learn how to make use of squares, for example) and working on endgames. If you are confident in your knowledge that a certain endgame will be in your favor, you’ll play the middle game with more confidence.

The lessons will be done over Skype or Discord, with a shared Lichess study. You can send me questions that I can either answer through text or go over in person during the next lesson.
