I am Alessandro Santagati, a 35 year old FM.
I live in Catania , Sicily , and I started playing chess at the age of 11.
I have extensive experience in training.
My philosophy is that anyone can improve quickly, given the right lessons.
My method is to develop the creative abilities of the students, keeping the need to memorize to a minimum.
I speak Italian and English fluently.

Playing experience
My most successful tournament was the international tournament of Vittoria, Italy. I also achieved a good placing in the international tournament of Benidorm, Spain in 2012, where I placed 3rd-7th out of 170 players with 7.5/10 points. I also came 3rd in the Malta Chess Open held in November 2015.
I have been an Italian master since 2011 after my victory against GM Igor Efimov in the Montecatini International tournament. I have been a Fide master since 2016 after the Lugano Chess Open in which I won against the Grandmaster Pavlovic.

Teaching experience
I started to teach chess in 2010, I'm an international instructure with students from all over the world , in particular USA, Europe and also Asia.
My courses are personalised and tailored for the individual I am working with.

Other experiences
In 2011 I was the instructor for the Sicilian boys in the Italian Youth Chess Championship. In 2015-16 I was the instructor in the course for Sicilian Talents.
Teaching methodology
I offer personalized chess lessons, I see the games of the student and I study his style,mistakes,weaknesses and after that I build a program to work to solve these problems and improve his skill.
