Updated chat on/off button, what did you think of the update?

This is a question about what you think of the new updated button to turn off and on the chat?

The button had been around for a long time, but it was a green square that turned black as soon as it was turned off.

Now it's a switch, known elsewhere on the site

In my opinion it looks better, because the old button made many people not know it was the off switch.

I didn't see anyone commenting, and I want to see what other people think.
I like it.It is easily understandable, easy to access, and it matches the UI.
I like it also and have just toggled chat off. I may even stop playing in Zen mode now.
I've seen some criticize it for being too distracting, but in my opinion this is a welcome change to help make things more intuitive for the user.
Hasn't been too distracting for me, and if it was I'd use Zen mode
By the way I like the zen mode but in this case it is not needed. As an alternative I recommend to turn on the kid mode. The chat disappears completely but you see everything else. But since the kid mode turns off all communication and some other things its only useful while playing.
I think the new button is a mistake. It looks like a sliding switch. The natural instinct is to try and drag it side-to-side, which does not work. A button should look like a button.

Not sure what you mean...

It looks like a switch, because it *is* a switch. Just like "Engine on/off" on the analysis page.

And it looks pretty much like any switch on iOS, and close enough to switches on Android, too. And Desktop operating systems are not way different...

What makes you think it is a button? A button would trigger an action, not toggle between on/off.

As for the dragging, I agree to a bit that it would be nice if it was supported (though I am not sure if is supported on all similar styled switches - but clicking on them always work).

Yes, "Engine on/off" and many switches in Android have the same problem.
Click (or tap) to side a switch from left to right? That is counterintuitive. I probably dragged them in Android for years before I decided to try and tap them instead. That only sometimes worked. I thought maybe the touchscreen digitizer was flaky. I suppose I could have consulted the extensive printed manual that comes with smart phones these days...oh wait, they don't exist.

it may seem ‘counter-intuitive’, but I doubt you have enough space to drag a button that may be smaller than a finger
